renesans

Prof. dr hab. Pascal Dubourg Glatigny doktorat obronił 1999 r. w Université Paris X Nanterre na podstawie rozprawy o matematycznych podstawach renesansowej sztuki figuralnej. W 2014 r. uzyskał habilitację w Université Paris-Est na podstawie książki omawiającej kontrowersje, jakie w wzbudziła w Rzymie w latach 40. XVIII wieku stabilność kopuły bazyliki św. Piotra. Prowadził badania w European University Institute we Florencji, a obecnie pracuje dla Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) w Centre Alexandre Koyré (EHESS - École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales) w Paryżu.

Artists at work: a rare iconography in the Renaissance

The represention of an operational building site in the famous painting by Anton Möller kept at the MNG is almost unique: in the 16th and 17th centuries the practical operations leading to the production of art pieces do not belong to the usual imaginary of painting.  The notion of sprezzatura as defined by Baldassare Castiglione commanded not to represent the material process behind the work of art. Nevertheless the ancient litterature on space measurement in general and on perspective in particular unveils a rich iconography that will help us to comprehend the very specific relationship between theory and practice in the field of Renaissance visual arts.
